Golden Turquoise Necklace

chestI found some external hard drives that contain files and photos from old laptops that went in the trash years ago. They were from a time when I was acquiring exotics to be part of my treasure. The bronze chest had a name then. It was called Indulgence.

I have other hard drives to search but would like to post some of the artifacts as they surface. All I post are in the chest. I could describe the cultures from which they came but bloggers would analyze my comments into perpetuity. Maybe giant-minded commenters will do those honors. ff

I excavated the prehistoric turquoise disc bead at San Lazaro Pueblo and had a goldsmith attach it to the nugget with an 18k gold post. The bead was made about 1325 AD.

The nugget is larger than in the photo. It is 1.75 inches long and is 2.105 troy ounces.

After Old Shadows put me in my place I was determined to keep my 2 cents to myself.

Now I know your just messing with me (1425). You must chuckle every time you hit enter. “Uncle!”–I’ll be quiet and just watch for now on (maybe).
I can’t twist my knee enough to read the instructions on my boot anyways.
Can’t wait to read about the rest of contents…I keep thinking that the only thing Indulgence would do for me is force me to spend a little more time in Purgatory.

Kirwin search story was a great read.

Goofy– hopefully one of these days I write something that makes cents. Thank you for letting me off easy.

They are still using the same style “hooch’s” today. Probably the same mattresses but you have to bring your own sheets.

  1. That’s a BIG nugget. I like the placement of the turquoise bead that catches the eye and adds intrigue. This is fun! Thanks, Forrest!

  2. FF your heart has more gold in it than that nugget. That sure is a beautiful piece . How do you do it. It would be hard to .( Well You know) Thank You forrest for sharing so much of your life with us.

  3. The necklace is exquisite, Forrest. I’m also intrigued by the name of the chest. Are you the one that gave it the name INDULGENCE?

  4. Seeing the photos of the items in the chest are exciting to behold with my eyes. I’m sure that nugget looks more impressive in person. I say that because I didn’t initialy imagine that it was quite as large as described. One word… Wow! Thank you for sharing, f.

  5. Good grief another piece already, Iโ€™m still counting the gold flakes from the Gold Dust post. Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s some coordinates in there someplace. And if you invert the picture of the gold dust and look at it sideways thereโ€™s a map there.

Beautiful necklace; I showed it to my wife and she started fixing me a sack lunch. I may be leaving sooner than I thought. Good thing I found the map in the gold dust. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just saw a post on FB about some search in Pagosa,Colorado at Browns Park,Treasure falls…Did you see the post? I hid it from my feed and now I can’t find it..Ive never gotten a Hunt for Forrest Fenn post before so was just wondering.

  7. Nice bait! We fish will be biting for sure now. ๐Ÿ™‚ FF, please don’t make the bait too large, remember some of us are neon’s and some of us are large mouth bass. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I love the new picture of the chest. I think the top of it is very interesting. I would also like to see pictures of the gold animals inside of Indulgence.

  9. Overcome with Emotion can’t even see strait. When i calm down a little(which
may take a while) I’ll zoom in on that Beauty โœด 10-10

      • I watch any repeat any chance I get!!! Loved Hogans Heros!!!
And…Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, McHale’s Navy, Gomer Pyle…as a matter of fact, that just reminded me.
When I was 8, my parents and two eldest siblings were already off to work and school on weekday mornings, when my first eldest brother (11) and myself would still be home (school started later for us). Anyway, after cereal and chores, we would watch McHale’s Navy and Hogan’s Hero’s then the timer would go off for us to walk to the bus stop…
funny how random, odd little memories just pop up…

  10. This category is ever so exciting…As are the vignettes, the scrapbooks, the bloggers, the blog…
    The chase is absolutely fascinating!
Dal, you got a great poker room here!
