Annual Report…

2015

WordPress sent a review of 2015 for the blog. I was entertained by some of the statistics so I thought you might be too..

To start off they say we had about 3,500,000 views this past year…
That blew me away…

To shed some light on that number, the Seattle Space Needle gets almost a million visitors a year. It would take the Space Needle nearly four years to accumulate the visitors we had in 2015. Yellowstone National Park had nearly as many visitors as we did last year…

Our visitors came from 211 countries. The USA, Canada and the UK were the top three countries where visitors originated. On the other side of the spectrum we had 25 visitors from Papua New Guinea, 10 from Belarus and 2 from Iran. I hope the 2 from Iran did not end up in jail for being interested in the chase.

Our biggest single day last year was on April 29th with 36,528 views. Not our biggest day ever though. The best day we ever had was 63,932 views…I think that was back in 2012.

As I write this on New Years Eve I can see that yesterday, December 30th, 2015 we had 10,086 views. That’s been about average for the past week. Last year at this time of the year we had around 7,000 views per day. So I guess the blog is growing. This is typically a slow time of year for the blog. Spring and summer are our most activeย seasons.

We have almost 1,500 subscribers to the blog and an additional 536 who want to be notified of comments on particular posts.

Many of the folks who visit us get here by search engines. The number one search term that folks use to find us is, of course, Forrest Fenn. But other, perhaps less widely used terms include:

finns treasure
fens treasure
andrew briggs
and my fav- thrill me
I bet those folks are disappointed…

We tend to be a yappy go lucky group. Our top commenters were:
Amy Sweitzer = 1,451 comments
JDiggins = 1,235 comments
Spallies = 1,211 comments
Seeker = 1,123 comments

We decided to say thanks to Amy, JDiggins, Spallies and Seeker by sending them over to Sacha’s cool store to pick out any one itemย they want on us…
She’s got Thrill of the Chase mugs, hoodies, t-shirts…and even Goofy’s Wee Gee Board Mouse Pads…

Thanks to everyone for making this a useful, fun, comfortable and popular place to learn about Forrest’s Thrill of the Chase. Best of luck to every one of you in the new year..

Goofy & dal

  1. First!
    Congrats, “yappers”!
Here’s hoping everyone stays healthy to search this season, and a BIG GOOD LUCK in 2016!
Wow, Dal, you’re almost a celebrity!

    • Incredible numbers! It’s wonderful that this has brought so many people together. I hope my post gets through, for I just started a couple days ago. If anyone reads this please let me know. I have many thoughts and wonders about the poem and would love to share! Thanks and Happy New Year! Brad

      • Welcome aboard Brad,
I have only been here since August & this site can help you in your quest for the treasure. My new years resolution is to stop going places where the treasure isn’t.
I am not sure if I can follow through….

  2. Interesting break down. The numbers are staggering! I remember when you were counting down to reach 250k hits…seems like just yesterday. The numbers have spoken. This site is the best(in my opinion) ha ha. Dal and Goofy deserve all the credit for running a tight ship with the best information available concerning anything Forrest Fenn , TTOTC. Thanks guys…

  3. Seeker!!!! I am so disappointed……maybe you could ask them to rank by the number of questions ‘asked’….?? ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL!! …jk, old yeller, Good Luck and have a Great New Year!!!

    • What IF… this was done by the number of ‘hits’ each searcher did, instead of comments? Did I start my comment with a question? I’m startin to pick up whatcha puttin down.

I have to admit when I saw that amount I was a bit surprised, as I’m very shy… You know? Yet, I’m with good company, so I guess I’m ok with it. My New Years resolution is to do less talking and more stomping… so you may not hear to much from me in the future, but may catch up with me in the deep dark wood… Be afraid, be very afraid! ole’ yeller will be on the prowl.

  4. Geezzz, ten more comments and I could have been ABBA!!!!
Thank you Dal and Goofy for all of your hard work! It is really appreciated… And I am soo getting a Goofy Wee Gee Board Mouse Pad ๐Ÿ™‚

    Happy New Year everyone…:)

  5. In radio, we are known to have big mouths…

I never thought I’d top a blog post! Tee hee! Thanks Dal, I am honored, grateful and surely couldn’t enjoy my company here if you didn’t provide the forum. Thanks Dal! Thanks to all the great minds on here, you guys are awesome! And, of course, thanks to you, forrest!
    Happy New Year all! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Happy New Year, Everybody! 3.5 million views! That’s a lot of views. At 1 view per year it would take about…let’s see…(thinking)…carry the one…3.4?…No…3.5 million years to amount that many views! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry. Just being silly. What’s in this eggnog, anyway? (hiccup)

I wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you VERY much Dal…and Goofy…and Forrest…and all of my many Friends…even if only Friends in Spirit…for now.

    Good Luck! And Thrill On!

  7. It looks like I’m not the only one with nothing better to do than watch the New Year celebration on TV and comment on Dal’s blog! ๐Ÿ˜€ Actually, we almost never go out but stay home to make sure the dogs are OK with all the noise from fireworks and people celebrating.

Thanks Dal, for providing us all a place to commiserate and share our thoughts
about the search for Forrest’s treasure. I was stunned at the number of views this year – WOW 3.5 million!

I hope this is the year the treasure is found and it would be great if it was one of the people who participate in your blog.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016!

  8. Wahoo – Congratulations Amy, JDiggins, Spallies and Seeker !!!!

You guys are all so good in what you post too !!

I’d like to kick 2015 in the ass – it has not been a good year for me. Lost my husband, my mom and my dog.

May 2016 be brighter, happy and successful for all of us. What a great team we have here. Thanks to all…………

    • Into
There was the three “they” speak of. 2016 will rock! ๐Ÿ™‚
      Hold your head high!
      I am (trying to stay awake…it’s late…lol!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • @Info, I agree, my dog got bit by a rattler (shouldn’t have let her wander) and died, my mom passed (was some what expected) and wild pigs got into my garden (poor planning)….not the best of years but then again, life on life’s terms. Happy New Year to all and Thanks Dal and Team Goofy for the blog, best to the Fenn Family too! – Cholly Q Ukiah, CA Jan 1, 2016

  9. That’s Great Dal. Those numbers tells us how many searchers we can meet in life on the quest for this treasure and fun. Can’t forget fun.. Poor Forrest must have the flood gate’s open on his happy new year email inbox. Any way I wish to meet every one of those people. I like people. I know it will take more then a life time to accomplish that task but then finding the treasure may as well. LOL Happy new years From Me Titan and my new sweet Ranee. I think she is hooked on the quest so look out fellow searchers. Shes a good person that loves puzzles. Happy days to all JB

  10. Thanks Dal, Goofy, Forrest for facilitating a great bunch of thrill-seeking folks. It’s always fun to be a part of TTOTC, unless your out of gas or being chased by Grizzlies. Happy New Year all!

And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.”
    – T.S. Eliot

thanks for listening, and all the good reading. happy new year, searchers.

    • Hey Margie…happy new year…
Margie is the writer of numerous articles on the chase for Huffington Post and a gaggle of other publications. She started the publicity ball rolling very early on in the chase. She has the job you wish you had. She is a world-class travel writer and gets to go on exciting adventures and visit posh resorts and write stories about them while sipping scotch in exotic bars from Zimbabwe to Singapore to Dubai…and..she plays the blues harmonica…
What more can you ask from a dinner guest and friend???

  13. Here is wishing all you nutty (myself included) treasure hunters a very Happy New Year! Be lucky and safe in 2016!
Thanks Forrest and thanks Dal and thanks to all you special (you know who you are) searchers. 2015 was a blast with more good times to come!
I hope to see everyone at Fennboree. It’s guaranteed to be a great time. Hey why else would I drag my camper all the way from PA. LOL
    Tom

  14. A good plan starts with Millionaire’s Coffee

    1/2 shot Bailey’sยฎ Irish cream
    1/2 shot Kahluaยฎ coffee liqueur
    1/2 shot Frangelicoยฎ hazelnut liqueur
    6 oz coffee

Pour bailey’s irish cream, frangelico and kahlua into an irish coffee cup and add coffee. Top with whipped cream and, optionally, allspice (cinnamon and nutmeg).

    Happy New Year Everyone!

  15. I was so excited to hear this. I told Dal that I must have been on Fire . I have really enjoyed all of you and The Thrill of a Chase is the Bomb ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy New Years and God Bless each and everyone of you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m going to order the Hoodie because where I search it’s Cold all year round ๐Ÿ™‚ ha ha ha. I hope I’m not way off. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Way to go yappies swimming “blaps” blog-laps in “dap” dal’s pool. May you fish out the treasure in 2016;-)

      Hearty applause for Dal!!!
      <3T )"(

  16. Thank you Dal and Goofy. Great sight for even the occasional poster. Good luck to Cynthia let us know if and when you have the chest. I hope to make one last search with or without hubby. Chest or no chest I have had fun. Hope to also make it to the Jamboree just to meet some of the searchers. Till then Happy New year everyone!!

  17. Great job, Dal and Goofy… You 2 keep the search alive and interesting for the family of fennsters. Thank you both and a big thanks to Forrest for starting it all… Wishing everyone Good luck and fun in the new year.

  18. JD, Spallies, and Seeker Great job. Did we have it Bad or what. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was just making sure no one was in my area. Ha ha but now it’s ok if u were to be because if I can’t find it than neither can you. Ha ha oh how funny. I love the Chase how exciting how depressing, how fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dal your awesome and run a very successful blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Nice!

Way to go Dal and Goofy – by far the best site for Fenn’s Thrill Chasers.

As a numberphile, of sorts, one can wonder what the percentage of lurkers there are amongst us.

    Happy New Year to all!

  20. A special Thank you to Forrest, without The Thrill of the Chase we may have missed the spirit of adventure that awaits all who answers it’s beckoning call.

Many thanks to Dal and Goofy for making this blog possible. Your tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Accolades and kudos to all of the posters here. Each of you provide avenues
for thoughtful repose, an escape from the daily hum drum of life.

May the new year bring each and everyone Peace, Joy, Love and Prosperity.
    Happy New Year.

  21. Sacha is sending me a report of who gets Goofy’s Wee Gee Board Mouse Pad; I’m making a list and checking it twice. Thought I would get started early on the who’s been good list for this year. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dal didn’t mention a few stats:

Looking at Seeker’s comments in totality this year makes War And Peace look like a three page news flyer. If you connected all the characters he has written last year they would stretch to Saturn and back seventeen times and that’s leaving out the spaces.

There were approximately three thousand searchers that absolutely without any doubt solved the poem and know where the chest is……..(They all had a different spot.)

The Food and Drug administration contacted us; apparently there has been a ten fold increase in the use of anxiety drugs due to the chase.

I was keeping up with how many got nuked this year by putting a notch in my desk but I lost count when there was nothing left of my desk but a pile of kindling. My wife no longer allows me to bring my Ka-Bar in the house.

We’ve had a few million break-in attempts from the dark side of the force; but we have prevailed thus far.

I’ve got several hundred death threats; I always reply with Dal’s address and a map to his house. Those sharks around Dal’s island must be getting fat by now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking forward to another great year in the chase and wishing all of you a happy New Year and good hunting.

    • Same to you Goofy! I’m sure managing this site is like herding cats and I really appreciate the efforts you and Dal put in to maintaining this site. Where would we be without y’all! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Goofy, are you serious about the death threats? Wasn’t sure with the happy face. If it is true, what is wrong with people? Have we all gone crazy? That’s nuts!

      • It’s true BW……..You guys only see what gets through; you wouldn’t believe how crazy some folks are. Running a blog is not a place for thin skinned individuals.

I’ve been through tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, divorce, wild animal attacks, and a war; it would be just my luck to be done in by some crazy individual that can’t find the chest……that’s why I send them Dal’s address. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • It’s not the folks who dog paddle over here to threaten my life and call me Goofy that I find annoying. It’s the door to door religion peddlers that you send here that I really find bothersome. I had to buy a backhoe just to hide the bodies. The wood is beginning to fill up with small mounds. The ferry crew is starting to get curious about all the bags of lye I’ve been brining over. This blog business in not as glamorous as WordPress likes to make out.

          • The year end summary, quite impressive. I had a feeling you guys were working harder behind the scene than it appeared. Without you guys we would all just be lost in the forest. Thanks for keeping us posted. And Happy New Year to boot.

          • Hey Dal, its not the little mounds I’d be concerned about… its the depressions after the mounds and the extra green grass. Its lyme not lye… and a little fertilizer between will help keep all the grass extra green.

    • LOL Goofy, thanks for the laughter. It is a pleasure to read that your humor remains despite all the challenges . Thank you Dal and to all the searchers who continue to keep the chase alive. Many of us just read without posting , but we are still here all these years later. Thank you Forrest for dreaming up this wonderful adventure.
Thank you Spallies , you made my life better.
Happy New Year to all. It’s going to be a good year!

    • Ponies we could plot them but I don’t think it would do any good. Many of their spots are in places like Texas, Kansas, and the top of trees in West Yellowstone. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Wow.. with those numbers you could get $$$$$$ in ad revenue! Just think how much Metal Detector and Hiking Boot companies would pay for those eyeballs!
    -CG

  23. I got my hoody today! I will wear it to shreds! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks so much, Dal and Goofy! Thanks Sacha, and of course all my pallies! ๐Ÿ™‚
Forrest, thanks be to you for all of it! Yippee! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jdiggins,

I am so glad you like the hoodie. I worked really hard to make sure it looked authentic.

I will have you know that there are only 4 of these in existence (so far), so you will definitely stand out in a crowd. I haven’t even made one for myself yet. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. I’m currently sitting at Jason’s Deli, as I’m standing in line to order this gentlemen keeps looking at my Hoodie that I won ๐Ÿ™‚
So he comes up to me and says what are u chasing I said Gold. ๐Ÿ™‚ then I explained a short story to him about it. He said well when u find that gold come see Im a financial advisor. ๐Ÿ™‚ he gave me his business card. Things are looking up. ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank u Dal, Goofy, and Sacha I really like my Hoodie ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel so special.
