Golden Turquoise Necklace

chestI found some external hard drives that contain files and photos from old laptops that went in the trash years ago. They were from a time when I was acquiring exotics to be part of my treasure. The bronze chest had a name then. It was called Indulgence.

I have other hard drives to search but would like to post some of the artifacts as they surface. All I post are in the chest. I could describe the cultures from which they came but bloggers would analyze my comments into perpetuity. Maybe giant-minded commenters will do those honors. ff

I excavated the prehistoric turquoise disc bead at San Lazaro Pueblo and had a goldsmith attach it to the nugget with an 18k gold post. The bead was made about 1325 AD.

The nugget is larger than in the photo. It is 1.75 inches long and is 2.105 troy ounces.

  1. Mr. Fenn, speaking of San Lazaro Pueblo, what was the most unexpected find you made there?

    • Mark J, I found two kachina dance masks that the archaeologists said didn’t exist in prehistoric times. They carbon-14 dated at about 1425 AD.

      • Forrest,

In all your years of collecting artifacts, have you ever collected anything from the Mayan cultures?

      • Forrestfenn-

After Old Shadows put me in my place I was determined to keep my 2 cents to myself.

Now I know your just messing with me (1425). You must chuckle every time you hit enter. “Uncle!”–I’ll be quiet and just watch for now on (maybe).
I can’t twist my knee enough to read the instructions on my boot anyways.
Can’t wait to read about the rest of contents…I keep thinking that the only thing Indulgence would do for me is force me to spend a little more time in Purgatory.

Kirwin search story was a great read.

Goofy– hopefully one of these days I write something that makes cents. Thank you for letting me off easy.

They are still using the same style “hooch’s” today. Probably the same mattresses but you have to bring your own sheets.

  2. That’s a BIG nugget. I like the placement of the turquoise bead that catches the eye and adds intrigue. This is fun! Thanks, Forrest!

  3. FF your heart has more gold in it than that nugget. That sure is a beautiful piece . How do you do it. It would be hard to .( Well You know) Thank You forrest for sharing so much of your life with us.

  4. The necklace is exquisite, Forrest. I’m also intrigued by the name of the chest. Are you the one that gave it the name INDULGENCE?

  5. Seeing the photos of the items in the chest are exciting to behold with my eyes. I’m sure that nugget looks more impressive in person. I say that because I didn’t initialy imagine that it was quite as large as described. One word… Wow! Thank you for sharing, f.

  6. Good grief another piece already, I’m still counting the gold flakes from the Gold Dust post. I’m sure there’s some coordinates in there someplace. And if you invert the picture of the gold dust and look at it sideways there’s a map there.

Beautiful necklace; I showed it to my wife and she started fixing me a sack lunch. I may be leaving sooner than I thought. Good thing I found the map in the gold dust. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks for the Idea Goofy, Now I’m explaining to the wife why I’m holding the computer monitor up side down. By the way My count was, 35239105529, what was yours?

      • I come up with 2,424,242 so far.

I forget, even though really nice, some of you folks couldn’t pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. Put down the computer monitor before you hurt someone and make your wife really mad.

If you want to see the map you have to stand on your head……Jeeeeze

          • Mark J, I think Goofy was trying not to offend anyone’s delicate sensibilities, thus bringing down the PC police…..only boots that halt “warm waters” have the directions on the heel!!

(consider yourself fortunate that there were no directions on the heel of your boots!! πŸ™‚ )

  7. Dal
I just saw a post on FB about some search in Pagosa,Colorado at Browns Park,Treasure falls…Did you see the post? I hid it from my feed and now I can’t find it..Ive never gotten a Hunt for Forrest Fenn post before so was just wondering.

  8. I appreciate you posting whats in it Forrest, it inspires me to keep going and gives me the kick I need to not give up!

  9. Nice bait! We fish will be biting for sure now. πŸ™‚ FF, please don’t make the bait too large, remember some of us are neon’s and some of us are large mouth bass. Thanks for sharing.

  10. I love the new picture of the chest. I think the top of it is very interesting. I would also like to see pictures of the gold animals inside of Indulgence.

  11. Overcome with Emotion can’t even see strait. When i calm down a little(which
may take a while) I’ll zoom in on that Beauty ✴ 10-10

      • I watch any repeat any chance I get!!! Loved Hogans Heros!!!
And…Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, McHale’s Navy, Gomer Pyle…as a matter of fact, that just reminded me.
When I was 8, my parents and two eldest siblings were already off to work and school on weekday mornings, when my first eldest brother (11) and myself would still be home (school started later for us). Anyway, after cereal and chores, we would watch McHale’s Navy and Hogan’s Hero’s then the timer would go off for us to walk to the bus stop…
funny how random, odd little memories just pop up…

    • I hate auto spell, especially when I don’t have my glasses on. Y’all know what what I mean!

  12. This category is ever so exciting…As are the vignettes, the scrapbooks, the bloggers, the blog…
    The chase is absolutely fascinating!
Dal, you got a great poker room here!

        • Every gambler loves those numbers, Amy. I forgot to mention that in my dream 9 other players at the table called my all-in bet pre-flop…which would have been enough to take the lead at the table and put me back in the game. πŸ™‚

  13. WARNING: Gold nugget necklaces with beads from 1325 AD induce magical thinking. Proceed with flashlight.

Had a name then? What about now?

    Tarzan, Indulgence, ?

  15. I like this piece…makes me drool a little. Turquoise and gold is a different look…I have always thought of Turquoise and silver together.

    • It’s been a while since I’ve seen this. I’m glad you commented here, ken. It is a beautiful piece and quite unique.

  16. God want’s FF to get this back for free and to make this a very happy Easter he wants you find it for him. sooooooo here comes a miracle but it will take me long to type this because i am slow. but i have strong suspicions like said let there be light and 7 days but only worked 6 that it wont take more then 6 or 7 hours

so how about a teaser while you wait?

so everybody always talkn bout what IT IS well i guess that depends on what the definition of is is… lol any bill clinton fans?

first forget everything you think you know and take baby steps with me. i challenge you to have the proof in you hands and posted here before i get back.

    it is a word

it is in the house of brown line

hints are FF is a lingiuist genius plus a bag of chips that can make words do all kind of tricks. this is only to level the playing field because someone like Dal knows this

and check out FF post about focusing or focus or whatever all that stuff he said was.

  17. this is the Holy Fenn and lead everyone on a Fenn Rush but only won can win.

in the name of Jesus God wants to host a Easter egg hunt to not only get that bracelt back for free but also that box because you are only titled the Gold.

FF wants everyone to be safe especially in area like yellow stone where leaving the walk way could easily kill you.

ok so if you read my teaser i have you focusing on the key word.

lets deal with focusing first and remember any word can mean more then one thing and be more then one clue. take notice if you search on google you basically get 3 images. 1 slightly out of focus 1 in focus and 1 that is stripped of information.

ok now that key word wich is Brown and focus on this. so from here you going to want to google government maps of state parks and such and compare the map keys. hey!!! ff’s map key does kinda look a little browner.

back to FF’s map hmm i notice small print that says the treasor location is somewhere in the highlighted area of the map. hmm come to think of it

lets take another look at that government map and compare map keys some more hmm there is one missing and WOW! FF’s map key says tribal governements one dont.

hey come to think of it tribal looks like it is writting in black and highlighted in brown and the map keys placed on FF’s map is only highlighted words and on government map it highlights all the land and notice theres not even as close to as many Tribal marks on FF’s map and only 2 of the 4 keys are on his map and they not all marked the green marker for yellow stone is missing hmm he loves yellow stone

ok enough of this focusing on the keyword/key word my head hurts

you guys need to figure out x amount of clues that point to different goegraphic locations that are all combined at a spot within his elevation.

so whats up with this flashlight. perhaps tarry scant or starry cant or stars cant or starlight can’t see or sunlight can’t see

what can’t they see? here is where you want to google. rainbow cave and blue lava and infared study’s of yellowstone

treasure young and old? yellow stone had to super eruptions millions of years ago so the blue lava is long gone and yellowstone is the world largest rainbow cave

not that i want to push anyone to yellowstone cause it might not be there. but interestingly enough back in 1988 on the west side of yellowstone blue lava did blue flow during super massive fires west of yellowstone wich melted and melted sulpher built around the sulpher spring and igniting making a blue river of fire flow down the creek wich left black marks where it flowed but will prolly be gone in a 100 years or more

hmm does where warm waters halt mean steam will rise? and does that connect to water high? im not sure but i know heavy loads or heavy lodes??? google lodes could that also tie in with water google heavywater then check out heavymetals or heavyminerals, heavyores possibly

all these multiple meanings. im done im tired i been through this to many times on my own

    • crap i forgot tarry scant some pictures make me think they cant see in a crack and possibily lode in the rock because a 5 inch box can fit into a 5 inch crack hmmm maybe thats why you need that flash light

  18. graa last edit you get 3 images of FF’s map

and my time was 12:00 in est where i live it is now easter here

  19. so how does FF know that box is wet?

so if where warm water halt steam will rise that means theres real is no paddle up our creek cause its a heavy lode with a heavy load of gold and you will be glad for the cold.

because the steam goes up into the crack and cool condensates then run down that crack him ic could be any where in the crack thats wider then 5 inches

    • Perhaps he cached the box in a sod den (sodden means wet). It’s my opinion this is at least the type of thinking ff employs.

  20. sorry its been bugging me i left this out because my physics could be wrong

warm waters halt, stop , freeze!!!
